Story

Interlude
Planet Aselia, a land based similiarly to a fantasy book - swordsmen, elves, mages, summoners, magic, and monsters. Yet such a magnificent world has its own faults in history. Humans are generally corrupt, and their corruption has established centuries of bloodshed and misery. Like most nonrenewable resources, mana, the source of magic and magitechnology used for inventions and war, was depleted rapidly. The source of mana can from the World Tree, the Yggdasil. The spirit of the tree, Martel, laments as she is drained laggardly.

Before the eyes of joy and harmony, there was a war - the Valhalla War. A sorcerer named Dhaos, the Demon King, had entered the world. He comes from the world of Derris-Kharlan. The civilians are dying, and their own support would be mana. Dhaos, with his large army of demons, hopes to collect the Yggdrasil's mana seed to save them. However, with the lose of mana withering the tree, Dhaos was determine to stop the humans from hurting it. Meanwhile, the humans, feeling threatened by the demons, declared war against Dhaos. Yet the Demon King was an unpredictable foe - he has a powerful range of attacks, including immunity of normal damage. The truth is, he can only be hurt with powerful magic spells - and the only ones who could use magic were the elves and half-elves...

The Elves, known for their superiority issues, wanted no part in the upcoming war. In response, all the elves underwent an exodus and isolated themselves in Ymir Forest, taking families apart. The humans welcomed the half-elves, the discriminated species, to their plan. Midgard declares war with Dhaos upon the Valhalla Plains. Behind the scenes though, a group of scientists and half-elves slowly plan out a magitechnological cannon - the Mystek Cannon. Though its blasts can annihilate an entire region, with such devastating power comes with a powerful price on mana. Dhaos, fearing the Yggdrasil's health, takes any measures on getting the mana seed - including extermination. So began years of battling, with no avail on either side.

The Eternal Seal
The cannon, originally, was fired regardless, taking the last life of the Yggdrasil. The humans fight through the array of demons and reach to Dhaos. There, a group of four heroes - Alan, Edward, Winona, and Carol defeat Dhaos. Weak from the Indignation spell, he manages to escape through a time rift many years later. Unexpectedly, as if ancestory passed the legend, Dhaos ends up in a tomb with four humans waiting for him. He is sealed inside the sarcophagus, releasing the "keys" - two pendants. The swordsman, Miguel Alvein, and the white mage, Merryl Adnadne, take the pendants, and the four promise to never speak of the event again.

Tragedy at Tortus
Years have passed since the event ocurred. Miguel is known as famous master of the blade and runs a training school. He has trained his son, Cless, under kenjustu, yet he has never bested his father at sword. Cless has recently reached his "coming of age", and for a present, he recieves the pendant Miguel treasured so much. He goes out on his usual hunting route with his best friend, Chester. During their trip to the forest, a wild boar eyes them to a large tree. The tree, however, was at a withering state, and suddenly, a woman appears before Cless while Chester tries to spot the boar. She begs him to help, but disappears soon afterwards. After collecting their meat, the bells of the village rung from a distance. By the time the two have ran to Tortus, it was in ruins. Fire burned all the buildings, while blood covered motionless bodies on the ground. To every child's fear, Cless's parents are murdered, and Chester's only family was dead. Maria, Cless's mother, emerges from the home, with grave injuries. She pleads Cless to escape, for the people responsible were after his pendant. Cless heeds her warning, and tries to find shelter; Chester, however, wishes to remain to make their burials.

Betrayal and a New Trust
Cless travels to Euclid, where he finds his aunt and uncle. He rests in their house, but is awakened by a poke. In truth, his uncle has sold his nephew's wherabouts to the army that attacked Tortus. Cless is taken prisoner in the castle. Before being thrown with a riot, a mysterious man examines him and takes the pendant. Not only was his face hidden, the mirror which reflected him showed a ghastly being floating up and down. Cless, in his cell, has no where to go - but he has to get out before execution. Suddenly, he hears a soft voice calling from the cell behind him, asking to reach his hand out. He obeys, and clutches a set of Unicorn-shaped earrings. The earrings glow a bright light, and destroy the wall. Cless tries to thank the person, but only find a rotting corpse chained to the wall, and a sword through her. He takes the sword and saves a young girl named Mint nearby along the way, though she believes that her mother, the person who saved him, was alive. Either way, they escape through the sewers. Outside, Cless is poisoned by a slug, and faints. Horses are heard from a distance. Nervously, Mint uses what strength she has left to carry Cless to safety.

Cless wakes up in a coozy house, the house of Tornix D. Morrison. Chester finally catches up with Cless, as Tornix picks him up from the village. Tornix happens to be a friend of both parents of Mint and Cless, and sworns to avenge them himself. Cless and Chester both feel obligated to help him, especially Chester, but Mint calms the two down. Regardless, they were to go to Tornix to the tomb where Dhaos was sealed...
