Changes (SNES-ALL)
Story-Changes:- Suzu, your new ally, is unlocked. Therefore, the dialogue is rewritten to influence her with the story.
- Numerous of side quests are unlocked, including the extention of the Morlia Gallery to the Dwarven Carvens.
- Dhaos is no longer vulnerable to the Indignation spell after the first time you fight him.
- There is one more form of Dhaos in which you have to fight. He isn't too difficult compared to his second version, but has a large HP range.
Gameplay-Changes:- To much of everyone's pleasure, the encounter rate has significantly decresed.
- Cless has new "special moves", including the famous Ougi set that most heroes have. As usual, you can only execute it under special conditions.
- Originally, Chester does not have any TP-related moves. As the remakes are first developed, he has a significant amount of moves.
- Plenty of moves of Mint have been remade or deleted.
- Chameleon was deleted from Klarth's summons. He also can summon Pluto.
- Like Mint, some of Arche's spells are changed and deleted.
- Suzu, being a whole new character, has her rendition of techniques and items.
- New items are added, others remove. You can also collect trading cards in the game.
- The introduction of the cooking system is established after success with Tales of Eternia's. Instead of food sacks, you now use ingredients to make whole meals, which differ in effects.
- Characters may now be given titles based on events or accomplishments, but unlike other games, it does not affect your stats in anyway. Though the descriptions can be funny.
- When you finish the game, you have an option to make a new file which carries your info from your monster book and item book. It also enables a high difficulty level.
- The battle system is far more complex now, with the Arrowhead Sets used in the later games. Movement and technique execution is also more free, with more manuals. You may also play other characters other than Cless.
Other-Changes:- Obviously the most awing change would be the sprites themselves. In the PSX-GBA version, the sprites are still chibi, but represent more of the character's actual physical features. In the PSP version, the sprites are changed to reflect the "grown-up" Narikiri Dungeon sprites, in-battle only.
- The PSX-PSP version contains a newly made opening and ending theme, styled with anime-rendered images. The opening is known as "Yume wa Owanai", sung by Megumi Hayashibara this time. The ending is named "Hoshi wo Sora Ni", also sung by Megumi.
- Chester's seiyuu has changed. Originally, it was done by Takeshi Kusao, Cless's seiyuu, but now is performed by Kentarou Itou.
- Mint's seiyuu is also changed. Her original was Satomi Koorogi, presently, she is voiced by Iwao Junko.
- For only the PSX and PSP versions, "skits" are active whenever possible, often on the field though. They are fully voiced by the respective voice actors, but contain no subtitles.
- All the scenes are fully voiced by the characters in the PSP version.
